POSITION SUMMARY

The Physician Assistant provides health care services to individuals, families and communities. The PA is both an independent and collaborative health care provider who works independently with a physician preceptor. The primary emphasis of the PA scope of practice includes treatment of acute and chronic disease states, patient education, health promotion, and disease prevention. The PA utilizes skills of history taking, physical assessment and diagnosis to manage a wide variety of health care needs for patients. The PA continues to refine health care skills through participation in continuing education programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

  1. Currently licensed and recognized as Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.

  2. Graduate from an accredited PA program, current NCCPA certification required.

  3. 1 year experience preferred.

  4. Aware of importance of maintaining good rapport with fellow workers, physicians, personnel of other departments, patients, families and visitors.
