  • According to NMCPHC-TM-OEM 6260.7 Health Care Workers (HCW) with potential exposure to blood/infectious materials (BOPIMs) will be offered the hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) or immunity testing. Declination Form may be required prior to reporting to work.
  • Medical Assistant Certification creditial by a program accredited by either the Commission on Accrediation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is highly desired, though not required.
  • Complete transcripts include, however are not limited to: student's name, name of educational institution, course title(s), semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned to include date(s), as applicable.


This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The actual Selective Placement Factor is a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating. Possession of the requirement must be verifiable via SUBMITTING A COPY of the current BLS certification with your application.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Your resume must demonstrate SIX (6) months of general experience. General experience is defined as any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.


In addition, your resume must demonstrate at least SIX (6) months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Performing multiple medical technician functions such as screening patients, record/report retrieval, recording vital signs, taking electrocardiograms (EKGs) and taking initial patient complaints. * Scheduling patient appointments per provider schedule. * Maintaining clinical supply inventories and medical crash cart. * Maintaining clinical cleanliness to include preparation of examination rooms, placement/assembling of medical equipment and supplies, and stocking provider rooms.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Successful completion of 2-years (60 semester hours) above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in courses directly related to the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
