External Job Description:

Responsible to the Newport News Technology Applications team. The environments may include AIX, SOLARIS, LINUX, and Windows. These duties include but are not limited to the following:

• General System Administration – Follow pre-defined process for application evaluations, installs, upgrades, retirements, problem resolution, application monitoring, license management, and 24x7 on-call support as needed. Provide application support for up to 75 applications.

• Data Center Operational Support – Implementation of system architecture and integrations, system maintenance and environment upgrades as required by sector initiatives and policy.

• Data Management – Support the implementation of processes to successfully accomplish data migration per vendor or systems engineering guidance, as well as ensuring the requirements of data integrity and data retention / recovery are met.

• Communications – Provide professional and technical status and communication to customers and all levels of management as needed including complete and quality documentation of the applications in your area of responsibility.

Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the companys system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
